CATERING MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Responsible to: Director

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week on a rota basis, working alternative weekends

Start Date: February 

 

Background: 

Laylocks is a successful family-owned business, which has been developing over a number of years and has recently added newly developed buildings housing a new food hall, gift & furniture store. The existing café has been gradually building its reputation for quality fresh food, friendly service within a lovely setting. We’re now embarking on the next phase of development, which will be to improve the kitchen layout and space, a new service counter, a change of menu and further development of the dining space. 

 

With this exciting expansion, we’re now looking for a catering manager with a strong background in fresh food cooking

 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

Responsible for the development of the catering service, planning, preparation and presentation of fresh quality food and beverages, keeping to the required food hygiene and food standards legislation

 

To work with the directors to improve the quality, presentation and delivery of all food & beverages on a “call to order” service system in a quick, efficient and friendly manner. 

 

  • To be responsible for the preparation and presentation of all food to the required high standards 

  • To ensure the methods of preparation and presentation comply with all current recognised catering standards 

  • To order raw materials and supplies, check deliveries and ensure all raw and cooked food is stored correctly and recorded properly

  • To ensure all catering staff carry out the preparation and cooking of all meals to the recipe specifications and presentation guidelines 

  • To ensure all staff adhere to portion and presentation standards 

  • To support the monitoring of menu planning and ordering 

  • To ensure the prompt service of all meals & drinks in an efficient and orderly manner

  • To support the implementation of local promotions

  • To purchase all supplies through agreed suppliers and resolve any difficulties with suppliers 

  • To be responsible for stock control and rotation of stock 

  • To support the planning, implementation and the cycle of menus to be revised at regular intervals in agreement with the directors

  • To attend regular team meetings/briefings with all catering staff 

 

Team Leadership: 

 

  • Responsible for the catering team and the smooth running of the catering staff who make up that team, including their leadership and development

  • To monitor staff absences and replacement of staff to cover absences and to report absences to the directors so that payroll can be adjusted accordingly 

  • To support the recruitment and induction of all new members of the catering staff 

  • To support the monitoring of staff performance, providing training and development as 

necessary 

 

Health and Safety: 

 

  • Ensure catering staff are compliant with health & safety roles and responsibilities and have the necessary mandatory qualifications and training in place 

  • To report all accidents/incidents in accordance with the company procedures 

  • To record all wastage and unfit foods in Wastage Book 

  • To ensure that there is a cleaning schedule, which is complied with and carry out cleaning as required 

  • Maintain and regular review/update a register of risk assessments for the kitchen 

  • Maintain and regular review/update a register of COSHH data sheets for all cleaning materials and chemicals used in the kitchen 

  • To take all necessary steps to ensure maximum security of kitchen supplies, equipment, and monies 

 

General: 

 

  • To work with the directors to actively monitor satisfaction with food, drink, and service provided 

  • To undertake the appropriate promotion and marketing of the catering service 

  • To identify and recommend improvements and cost savings

  • To participate in the performance and development review process of staff 

  • To comply with individual responsibilities, in accordance with the role, for health & safety in the workplace 

  • To ensure that all duties and services provided are in accordance with the company’s Equal Opportunities Policy

Santa’s Helper/Elvevs

 

We are currently looking for Elves to help Santa at Laylocks Garden Centre’s Christmas grotto! The Grotto Experience is designed to be a magical experience for children so as an Elf it is essential that you are of a cheery disposition and great at entertaining groups of children.

 


Experience would be preferred.

Must be 16 and over Costumes supplied  

Elf Requirements:

You will have superb customer service skills

Acting or entertainment skills would also be advantageous

You will be responsible for booking system

Able to work under pressure

 

Position 1 - every Saturday starting 27th of November - 18th December 10:30-4:30pm (break included)

 

Position 2 - November the 28th - 19th of December: Sunday 10:30-3:30
