Head Chef - 42 hours contract (no evening work)

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join The Ladybird Restaurant. The restaurant operates in our Garden Centre, located in Worcester. The Restaurant has become the hub of the garden centre and a vital asset. It is a busy restaurant which offers homemade cake, snacks and drinks, a breakfast and lunch menu and daily specials.

 

The restaurant has had rapid growth over the last few years, especially since its refurbishment in January 2022. We are continuing to grow the garden centre and restaurant over the next few years as part of our 5 year development plan. We have been granted planning persimmon to develop the size of the garden centre which means the restaurant will go from 60 seater to 150 seater and outdoor seating, totalling a restaurant size of 200 covers which will be  opening in January 2024.

 

We are looking for a versatile and well-organised Chef/Manager who will be responsible for running all aspects of the Restaurant, which includes alternate weekends, l alternate bank holidays. The hours are day-time hours (no evening work)

 

About the Role

  • Head Chef

  • Menu planning and ensure all menu items are produced to a high standard

  • Prepare and serve high quality fresh food 

  • Lead your kitchen and ensure pro-active management of your team with a hands-on approach

  • Dealing with allergens and special dietary requirements 

  • Manage all day to day activities

  • Ensure that all staff are working to a high standard and that the kitchen is kept clean and tidy

  • Manage the orders and stock of your kitchen

  • Support your team to ensure that they deliver a high standard of customer service and serve high quality food products

  • Ensuring all staff are correctly trained and that in-house training is completed

  • Ordering and controlling food stocks

  • liaising with Directors

  • Hiring Team Members

  • Hiring, training and supervising staff 

  • Tracking catering expenses and maintaining accurate records

  • Adhering to all food and health industry regulations and standards

  • Adhering to health & safety regulations

 

Requirements

  • Food Safety Level 3 certificate

  • Allergen Awareness certificate

  • Clear understanding of the Safer Foods, Better Business requirements

  • 2-3 years, Restaurant Chef/Manager experience  

  • Experience with staff management

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Kitchen/Restaurant Assistant 40hr Permanent

 

 

We are looking for a friendly kitchen/restaurant assistant to join our fast paced restaurant. You will be a competent and an enthusiastic person who works well in a team and individually. This is an all rounder role which has wide range of responsibilities and duties, covering the front of house and the kitchen.

Duites:

  • Assist in all aspects of the preparation of front of house and kitchen.

  • Help support the head cook and in the kitchen on your weekend

  • To operate the coffee machine, blenders, dishwasher and any other equipment within the restaurant as part of daily duties

  • To operate the Epos Till system, handling of cash/credit card transactions

  • Assist with the hygienic cleaning of front of house and all aspects of the kitchen and restaurant, in line with all health and food safety requirements

  • To serve customs in a polite and friendly manner

 

40hrs
Monday - 9-5pm (front of house)
Tuesday - 8-4pm (back of house)


Wednesday - OFF


Thursday - 8-4pm (back of house)
Friday - 9- 5 (front of house)


Alternate weekend working:

Sat 8 - 4 (back of house)
Sun 8:30-4:30 (back of house)r.


Minimum Requirements

  • Proven café/restaurant experience.

  • Hands-on experience in cashier duties.

  • Attention to cleanliness

Desired:

  • Second cook experience

  • Food preparation
