Food Hall / Deli Supervisor Full Time 36.5hr

Due to an exciting new development at Laylocks Garden Centre, we are looking for an Enthusiastic Food Hall Manager/Supervisor. Due to the continued growth of the garden centre, with another development set in start in October 2022, we have had increased demand to expand our current food hall into a farm shop/deli. Using local produce throughout & to work closely with a local butcher. The farm shop/deli is set to open for mothers day weekend 2022.

This is a new position which you can make totally your own. You will be working very closely with the Director.

General Duties

  • As Food Hall Customer Service Assistant you will delivering excellent standards and customer service, working as part of the food hall team to ensure the department standards are maintained at all times.

  • You will be hands-on working as part of the team and taking responsibility for keep stock replenished and presented to the highest possible standards of presentation.

  • You should provide a warm welcome to customers and be available for their assistance at all times putting them first

The Department 

  • To maintain the standards of the department in terms of display, merchandising, cleanliness, freshness, signage, security and safety

  • To focus on the customer’s first impression at the entrance in terms of quality, freshness and value at all times.

  • To carry out and maintain all date and temperature checking to ensure all records are maintained to the correct standards at all times.

  • To carry out product training and ensuring you understand the layout of the department and the location of our ranges so as to assist customers

  • To carry out stocktaking duties outside of normal hours as requested and agreed

  • To ensure all Safer Food Better Systems procedures are monitored and adhered to for the Food Hall retail department at all times. To control all stock date booking in of deli products and to maintain their stock rotation and reduce wastage

  • To keep and maintain records of all allergens data for the range of deli products for customer reference.

  • To monitor and keep in stock all deli packaging and then communicate to the director of any stock issues or needs.

  • To work with the director to plan and organise the weekly ordering and delivery of all deli stock in a timely manner to avoid running out of stock, whilst staying with stock holding budgets and keeping stock rotating without out of date issues.

  • To monitor and update all price changes on the stock system, and ensure that the team updates ticketing and signage. To also generate deli specialist tickets for the counter and to also maintain the production of the labelling system

  • To work with suppliers to stay on top of product updates and to plan sampling events are planned to give as much notice as possible.

  • To work with the director to plan and organise seasonal layout changes to ensure that these are managed with the least disruption to customers and that stock is organised in a neat and tidy manner at all times

  • To update and feedback to the Director on the performance of suppliers and products to develop sales and improve appeal to customers, including sourcing local suppliers for approval as appropriate.

  • To plan and organise daily / weekly cleaning procedures to keep the highest standards of presentation and safety at all times.

  • To liaise with the catering manager re fruit and veg waste

 

The Store

  • To interact with customers throughout the store, aiming to satisfy and exceed their needs and expectations.

  • To keep all back of house areas neat and tidy to protect damage to stock and to maintain the safety of the team and customer at all times

  • To build and maintain excellent working relationships with all other departments and to support them as needed or requested.

 

The Team

  • To set standards of excellent customer service, leading by example and motivating others to put customers first at all times working with pace, enthusiasm and energy.

  • To always ensure that customers are acknowledged when they enter the store and to always greet them personally even when busy, leading by example.

  • To understand your daily duties, which will include stock replenishment, merchandising standards, stock date checking & rotation, quality checking and maintaining the standards of appearance of the department at all times.

  • To take responsibility for understanding your daily duties and for working with pace and energy to complete tasks, working as a team and always checking for guidance if unsure

  • To support colleagues in working efficiently to keep the levels of stock as full as possible and to ensure that the warehouse areas are kept neat, tidy and organised.

  • To top up trolleys and baskets for the department throughout the day and to ensure stock replenishment does not disrupt customer flow

  • To provide feedback to the leadership team on customer comments or areas where you feel sales can be improved.

 

Administration/Other

  • To keep on top of all deli administration procedures including stock ordering, delivery record checking, stock booking in, stock dating and rotation as well as mark downs and wastage

  • To visit emails and filing tray daily, actioning as appropriate.

  • To take part in the store stocktaking programme to include out of hours working as required.

  • To carry out any other duties as decided by the director
